We will observe Earth Day and promote a healthy, caring attitude to the world on Friday, April 22, 2022 . Kindergarten classes will be learning about recycling. First grade students will be participating in group projects. Earth Day is an annual event created to celebrate the planet's environment and raise public awareness about pollution. The day, marked on April 22, is observed worldwide with rallies, conferences, outdoor activities and service projects. Everyone is encouraged to wear items of clothing in the color of green.
Mrs. Nanoah and Miss Schmidt's EL Kindergarten and First grade students took nature walks and picked up trash for Earth Day. Each student made a paper bag to show what items need to be recycled. Then the student's took the bags outside to collect trash and recyclables. They then brought them inside and recycled the items and threw trash away. The class talked about the importance of recycling to help the environment. They discussed ways to help the environment like planting trees, flowers, turning lights and saving water. Then the class completed a writing prompt about ways they could help the Earth all year round. The EL students also worked on their home country projects for Family Night at the High School. We talked about the different countries they are from and some traditions, celebrations and foods. Each student colored their home country flag and this will be displayed at Family Night.
