Child Find
The Whitehall-Coplay School District has procedures in place to locate and identify students who are in need of special education programs and services. Child find procedures will apply to students residing within the Whitehall-Coplay School District who are ages five through twenty-one, including students who attend non-public schools.
Procedures
-
Continuous and comprehensive evaluation measures exist at each school and at each grade level. This also includes data meetings as a part of the district’s MTSS model.
-
Students in Private Schools: All students who are residents of the Whitehall-Coplay School District and who attend private school may contact the Whitehall-Coplay Special Education Department to request an evaluation.
-
The purpose of an evaluation is to determine eligibility for special education services under the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) and corresponding Pennsylvania regulations (Chapter 14). It is intended to gather the information necessary to design an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for which the student is entitled.
