Welcome to the Whitehall-Coplay School District LIEP Department Language Instruction Education Program

The Whitehall-Coplay School District strives to serve the diverse community by providing educational opportunities designed to challenge students to strive for personal excellence and responsible citizenship. The District seeks to create a positive environment where all students, parents/guardians, and the community feel welcome and a sense of belonging.

Our goal for our English Learners is to experience academic success while acquiring English in order to become capable and productive members of society.

LIEP Program

LIEP Description - The LIEP Description provides a description of Whitehall-Coplay's Language Instruction Program (LIEP).

ESL Basic Education Circular - Every school district shall provide a program for each student whose dominate language is not English for the purpose of facilitating the student's achievement and academic standards.

Whitehall-Coplay School Board Policy regarding Limited English Proficiency

In accordance with the Board's philosophy to provide quality educational programs to all district students and to increase the English language proficiency of students who are English Learners, the district shall provide an effective Language Instruction Educational Program that meets the needs of English Learners. The goal of the program shall be to demonstrate success in increasing English language proficiency and student academic achievement so that English Learners can attain the academic standards adopted by the Board and achieve academic success.
