Remote Learning Day Information
This page outlines the expectations for our district’s Remote Learning Days. A Remote Learning Day is a designated school day that the district may implement when schools are unexpectedly closed (e.g., due to inclement weather).
What to Expect on a Remote Learning Day
- Instruction is Asynchronous: There will be no live instruction (teachers will not hold live Google Meet sessions). Students will have assignments to complete throughout the day.
- No Make-Up Day Required: Remote Learning Days are counted as regular school days and are not required to be made up at the end of the school year.
- Staff Availability: All school staff, including teachers, counselors, nurses, and computer technicians, will be available to support students and families via email during the regularly scheduled school day. Staff are expected to respond to emails within 60 minutes.
Student Learning Assignments
Assignments are designed to continue the current sequence of instruction and will reinforce or review taught content, not introduce new material. Teachers will adhere to the following instructional time allocations:
- Grades K-1: Classroom teachers will send a school closure packet home with students. Please keep this in a safe place in the event we have a remote learning day. The packet will include the assignments/activities your child will complete on that day.
- Grades 2-12: Classroom teachers will post all assignments on Google Classroom no later than 9:00 AM on the day of the school closure, OR they may send home a school closure packet.
- Classroom teachers will communicate with families by 9:00 AM as to what the assignments will be for the day.
Due Dates and Attendance
- Online Assignments: Must be submitted by 11:59 PM on the day of the closure.
- Paper Assignments: Must be returned to the teacher on the first day students return to school following the remote learning day.
- Attendance: Student attendance is taken based on the completion of the remote learning day assignments. Assignments not submitted on time will result in the student being marked absent.
- Hardship Exception: If your child is unable to complete their assignments for any reason, you must contact the teacher on the day of the school closure to avoid your child being marked absent. District attendance policies remain the same on remote learning days.
