Chromebooks at WCMS
Posted by Erik Kloiber on 8/20/2020Hello WCMS Families
I am happy to announce a change for student Chromebooks for the 2020-2021 school year. Last year we launched our one-to-one device plan where students retrieved their Chromebooks in Homeroom and returned them at the end of the school day. This school year, all students will be able to take their Chromebooks home with them in the evenings as well. As all students will participate in some form of online learning, whether through the current Hybrid schedule, our Whitehall-Coplay Learning-at-Home, or our district cyber program, access to devices in the home will be critical for success.
- Students attending for in-person learning in our Hybrid model who are in Cohort 1 (last names A-L) will get their Chromebooks on the first day of school. These students do not need to come to the building ahead of time for devices.
- Students attending for in-person learning who are in Cohort 2 (last names M-Z) should plan to visit the building for device pickup on Thursday, August 27 between the hours of 9am and 12pm.
- Students participating in the Whitehall-Coplay Learning at Home program or our district cyber program should plan to visit the building on Thursday, August 27 between the hours of 1pm and 4pm for devices.
- We will also have later hours on August 27 from 4pm to 6pm to accommodate families.
Families will have the option to purchase insurance for the devices in the event of accidental damage. The cost of insurance is $15 per device and can be paid through My School Bucks or in-person (with exact currency) at the main office. Please call 610-439-1439 with questions. All students/parents will be asked to sign our Chromebook Loaner Agreement upon receipt of the device.
Please take a moment to review the documents at the end of this email. They include a parent letter, Chromebook Loaner Agreement, and an explanation of our Voluntary Technology Fee. I would be happy to discuss this further with you should you have any questions or concerns.
Have a wonderful day
Angela Friebolin, Principal WCMS
