Notice is hereby made that the Board of School Directors of the Whitehall-Coplay School District will conduct the following 2022-2023 meetings in the Whitehall High School Large Group Instruction Room, 3800 Mechanicsville Road, Whitehall, PA:
Regular Committee meetings will be held the second Monday of each month, beginning at 4:00 p.m., with the following exception: Tuesday, April 11, 2023. Committee meetings are not scheduled in July.
Committee meetings will be held as follows: January 9, April 11, August 14, and November 13, the Operations/Transportation Committee will meet at 4:00 p.m., and the Finance/Personnel Committee, and Education/Student Activities will follow consecutively. On February 13, May 8, and September 11, the Education/Student Activities Committee will meet at 4:00 p.m., and the Operations/Transportation Committee, and the Finance/Personnel Committee will follow consecutively. On March 13, June 12, and October 9, the Finance/Personnel Committee will meet at 4:00 p.m., the Education/Student Activities Committee, and the Operations/Transportation Committee will follow consecutively.
Regular School Board meetings will be held on the fourth Monday of each month, beginning at 7:00 p.m., with the following exceptions: Monday, December 19, 2022, and Monday, November 20, 2023.
The Board welcomes citizens to its open meetings and invites them to bring to its attention matters of concern. A member of the public, present at a Board meeting, may address the Board in accordance with law and Board policy and procedures. Citizens desiring to be heard by the Board at a regular or special meeting without prior notification, may be allotted a reasonable amount of time by the President to present the issue of concern after submitting a Request to Speak form prior to the start of the meeting.

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Directors (the “Board”) of the Whitehall-Coplay School District (the “District”) shall convene a Reorganization Meeting on Monday, December 4, 2023, at 4:00 p.m., in the Large Group Instruction Room, for the purpose of engaging in the annual reorganizing the Board and any and all business that properly comes before the board. Committee Meetings will then be held immediately following the annual reorganization meeting.
Cancelation notice is hereby given that the Committee Chairpersons (the “Committee”) of the Whitehall-Coplay School District (the “District”) have canceled the Committee Meetings that were scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m., on Monday, November 13, 2023.

NOTICE OF HEARING REGARDING THE CHARTER SCHOOL APPLICATION OF WHITEHALL STEAM ACADEMY CHARTER SCHOOL
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Board of School Directors of the Whitehall-Coplay School District will be conducting a hearing in accordance with the Pennsylvania Charter School Law found in PA. STAT. ANN. 24 Section 17-1701-A-17-1732-A, et seq. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. in the Large Group Instruction Room of the Whitehall High School, 3800 Mechanicsville Road, Whitehall, Pennsylvania 18052.
The purpose of the hearing is to consider the application filed by Michael Makhoul of the Whitehall STEAM Academy Charter School proposing a K-8 elementary school that will eventually house 600 students.
The hearing will be conducted in accordance with the administrative procedures established by the District. Interested members of the public who wish to testify or submit testimony in the proceeding will be required to notify Lea Unger, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools, by 12:00 p.m. on December 20, 2023, of their intent to testify.
The District’s Solicitor, Fox Rothschild LLP, shall preside at any hearing of the Board held for the purposes of considering a charter school. The hearing will be stenographically recorded at the District’s expense.
The application that was submitted to the District will be made part of the official record. The applicant shall make a presentation which shall last no more than thirty (30) minutes unless the Presiding Officer allows additional time. Public comment will be taken. Residents, employees, and taxpayers of the District may speak at the public comment session. Each individual may make comments for consideration by the Board of School Directors or may ask questions of the applicant, which shall be responded to by the applicant. Each commenter shall be limited to two (2) minutes and may speak only once. Each individual who desires to speak shall state his/her name and address within the District. In addition, residents, employees, and taxpayers of the District may submit written comments or relevant material to the Board of School Directors by 12:00 p.m. on December 20, 2023.
Members of the District Administration may make a presentation regarding the application. The applicant will be granted up to fifteen (15) minutes to make a closing presentation to the Board of School Directors in accordance with the procedures.
NOTICE OF SECOND HEARING REGARDING THE CHARTER SCHOOL APPLICATION OF WHITEHALL STEAM ACADEMY CHARTER SCHOOL
