Take notes about the book. Handwritten notes may be used for the multiple choice test.
As you read try to find the answers to the following questions.
- What type of investment does Francisco want to make & why?
- What scam is he creating? Whom does he involve & how are they involved?
- Where does he send his “team”? What do they do there? Why is this illegal? How does Francisco get around this? What problem occurs on the trip?
- What role does Suárez have in the story?
- Why does Francisco become worried?
- What problem does the “team” encounter when they wish to return? Be able to track the events of Alvarez & María Josefa.
- How does Francisco placate Suárez?
- Who takes the “fall” for the scam? Who gets away with it? How does this occur?
These are not all-inclusive questions. Be sure to fill in with details.
German 4 Honors Summer Reading
Guten Tag! Wir lesen gern im Sommer! You will be reading the last short story in the book Five Great German Short Stories. It's entitled Das Urteil, or The Judgment, by Franz Kafka. You will find an English and a German version of the story. Be sure to read both! You may want to read the German first, and then check your understanding with the English translation. As there will be an assessment the first week of class, taking notes is recommended. Pay particular attention to the relationship between the main character and his father. Viel Glueck und Spass! |
