Medication Administration

Any child that requires medication during the school day must follow the district policy for medication administration. Medication must be brought in the original bottle. The medication will be kept in the health room. It will be the students responsibility to go to the health room at the correct time and request the medication. In the absence of the school nurse, the principal or designee may give the medication.

For non-prescription medications, the "Non-prescription Medication Dispensing Form" Must be completed by the parent and submitted to the school. For prescription medications, "Prescription Medication Dispensing Form" must be completed. Both the parent and physician must sign this form.

All prescription medications must be brought to school by the parent/guardian.

Students are not permitted to carry medication during the school day. School policy allows students to carry asthma inhalers. In order to carry an asthma inhaler, the student must have the permission of his/her physician, parent, and the certified school nurse.
