Bullying Prevention Program Implemented

The safety and well-being of our students here at Steckel, is one of our main priorities. In order to ensure that Steckel is a place where all children feel safe and can focus on learning, we are implementing a program called the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program.

The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP) is one of the best-known bullying prevention programs. OBPP has been proven to prevent and reduce bullying. The goals of OBPP are to reduce bullying problems and prevent new bullying problems from happening. The program also works to build better relationships between students. This program is for all students, not just those who are being bullied or who are bullying others.

Parents and guardians play a key role in this program. Your child will be asked to tell an adult at school and at home, if he or she is being bullied or sees bullying happening. It will be very important that you take any bullying seriously and tell our school staff if you child reports bullying to you. Our entire school staff has been trained how to deal with bullying situations when they see it occur or are told about it.

We encourage you to take an active stance against bullying. Bullying should not be seen as "kids being kids" or something that students just need to deal with. Having a safe school experience is something that all students should be able to enjoy. If you have any questions about the program, please feel free to call the school and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have. We have posted some resources to assist parents with different bullying situations and an overview of the Olweus program. You can access that page by clicking "Parent Resources" on the main website menu above.

Steckel Holiday Music Video

Every year the students of Steckel Elementary School work very hard on their holiday program. The show is taped and broadcast during the holiday break on local TV channels. Thanks to the Whitehall Music Parents Association and Mr. Crammer you can also view the program on their website. Click here to view the program video.
